I like to make people dream and tell stories with my photography.

My artistic goal is to capture the complex ecosystems that we live in. For all of my subjects, whether it is of the natural world or a part of our cultural heritage, I seek to capture and share the beauty of our rapidly changing planet.

I photograph with the print in mind, ranging from large to almost life-sized. I want the viewer to see the intricacy and interconnectedness of our ecosystems. Creating these large images requires extensive knowledge of my subjects that I photograph. The vivid results makes the viewer feel as if they were right in the scene with me.

I use cameras traditionally employed for portrait and fashion photography and shorter lenses to capture the raw materials for my work. I then apply advanced photographic and post processing techniques to create my images. In some instances, I even go a step further and use multiple cameras to take exposures from various angles. I later composite the various exposures in my studio. This technique helps create my dream world and tells a more complete story.

Bio

Oliver Klink is a professional photographer based in Los Gatos, California. He specializes in nature, wildlife and fine art photography. The underlying inspiration for his photography is his story telling approach and the like photographers, such as Frans Lanting, Nick Brandt, Charles Cramer and Art Wolf.

Oliver’s work has received many awards and has been published with National Geographic, Days of Japan, Black &White magazine, Popular Photography magazine, among others. In 2013, his image “The Great Migration” was selected as the Grand Prize winner at the 30th anniversary SpringShow Exhibit at the PhotoCentral Gallery in Hayward, CA. Other awards have included the Mike Ivanitsky award (2009) for photographic excellence, nomination at the prestigious Color Spider Award (2011, 2012, 2013) and the North America Nature Photographer Association top 100 wildlife images (2008, 2009).

Oliver leads workshops around the world to inspire participants to develop a personal vision with their photography. Since 2005, his help and expertise have served many students to take photographs that are more than just mere images, but rather photographs that haunt people and tell stories. Oliver’s teaching style is about building confidence to launch creativity.
